The short version
Some links on MoneyMeta — mainly in our gear and hardware coverage, and in comparison tables for pre-orders, controllers, headsets and storage — are affiliate links. If you click one of those links and go on to make a qualifying purchase, we earn a small commission from the retailer. It costs you nothing extra: the price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go to the retailer directly.
This page exists because the U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires a clear disclosure whenever a recommendation is compensated, the Amazon Associates Program operating agreement requires an affiliate disclosure on any site that uses its links, and it is also a stated condition of the display-advertising networks we intend to apply to as the site grows. We would disclose this even if none of those required it.
What we're part of
MoneyMeta is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. We may also join equivalent affiliate programs run directly by other hardware and game retailers as our gear coverage expands; any retailer we're actively affiliated with is disclosed the same way, in context, wherever we link to them.
Where these links appear
Affiliate links on this site are limited to product and retailer links — the kind of link where clicking through to buy something is the obvious next step, such as a specific controller, headset, storage drive or a retailer's GTA 6 pre-order page. We do not run affiliate links on money-method figures, market data or anything we present as a modelled estimate: those numbers are never for sale, and no retailer relationship influences what we publish as a ranking or an estimate. If a review or a "best of" list includes a paid or affiliate link, that fact is disclosed on the page it appears on, not buried only here.
Editorial independence
Being an Amazon Associate, or a partner of any other retailer, does not change what we write. We do not accept payment in exchange for a specific ranking, a positive review, or removal of a negative one, and a product's affiliate status has no bearing on where it lands in a ranked list. If we haven't used or researched a product enough to have an honest opinion on it, we say so rather than recommend it anyway for the commission.
